Welcome to April!
It's hard to believe that it's April already. Before you know it, the students will be ready to start Grade 2! The reading, writing, and math expectations increase next year, and I want the children to be prepared for their next adventure. Here are some things you can do at home to help your child.
1) Read aloud each day and discuss what you are reading about.
2)Talk with your child each day. Talk about places you pass why walking or driving. Ask questions, make inferences. A great game to play is "I SPY", using phonemic awareness concepts (e.g., I spy a word that rhymes with_____, a word that begins with _________, or ends with a _______.)
3) Write together. Make up silly stories ,songs or rhymes.
4) Think about math in the environment. When out , look for shapes and patterns.
If baking use addition and subtraction concepts.
